A doctor reveals who should refrain from drinking lemon water on an empty stomach

Dr. Pavel Isembayev, an expert in weight reduction at the "Pormental" hospital in Chelyabinsk, Russia, revealed that they should refrain from drinking lemon water on an empty stomach.

According to him, the ideal amount of lemon juice in water should be between several drops and a tablespoon in 250 milliliters of water.

He says, "If the amount of lemon juice increases, the water negatively affects the tooth enamel. Because acidity destroys it. Therefore, it is recommended to use a small straw to drink lemon water. Of course, lemon juice prevents the development of erosion and ulcers in the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. But it aggravates the symptoms of Gastroesophageal reflux disease, acid belching, nausea and heartburn. Therefore, everyone who suffers from similar symptoms is advised to refrain from drinking lemon water, especially on an empty stomach."


He adds, the vitamin C in lemon increases iron absorption, so people with high iron should not drink too much lemon juice. Because the high percentage of iron in the body becomes toxic and can negatively affect the liver.


He says, "There is information from people who suffer from migraines, that citrus fruits can cause headaches. But there is no scientific basis for such information. There are no scientific studies on the effect of lemon water on health. All that is said about the benefits and harms of this drink is based on on personal experiences.
