Al-Ahly’s Assistant Coach Reveals the Truth about El-Shennawy’s Clash with Mohamed Sharif

Sami Komsan, assistant coach of Al-Ahly club, confirmed that the red team performed well against Smouha (4-0) yesterday, Sunday, denying what was raised about a clash between the team's duo, Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mohamed Sharif.

"We performed well against Smouha in yesterday's match for the 28th week of the Egyptian Football League, and against Pyramids also in the last round, but success was lost," Komsan said in televised statements.

He added: "We knew the extent of the fans' sadness and dissatisfaction with the result of the team's match against Pyramids (2-2). A state of focus prevailed among all players in order to complete the league championship in a distinctive way. In the end, we took an important step towards the league championship by defeating Smouha. ".

And about Ali Lotfi’s participation in the second half of the Smouha match instead of Mohamed El-Shennawy in the goalkeeper, and if the latter started the match injured, the assistant coach of Al-Ahly said: “Loutfi’s participation came because of the result of the match, and coach Pitso Mosimane spoke with the players before the match and emphasized the necessity of Deciding the results of the matches early in order to give the technical staff a chance to involve other players.”

He continued: "Al-Shennawy was not injured before the match. He made a great run against Al-Ahly and Smouha, but he felt a slight pain in the knee, so he preferred to leave, and it did not happen that the player underwent x-rays, he only did a physical therapy."

Regarding what was raised about the outbreak of a dispute between Al-Shennawi and his teammate, Mohamed Sharif, Komsan stressed that there were no altercations between the two, as was rumored, stressing that they were rumors aimed at undermining the stability of the team.

Al-Ahly, who has 6 games in hand, rose to second place in the Egyptian league standings, 16 points behind its leaders, Zamalek.

It is worth noting that Al-Ahly will meet with the South African Kaizer Chiefs, on the 17th of this July in Morocco, to determine the African Champions League champion.
