Paris Saint-Germain announces the signing of Hakimi

French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday the signing of Moroccan international defender Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan for five years, but did not reveal the value of the deal.

The 22-year-old, born in Spain, graduated from Real Madrid's academy and joined the first team in 2017 and was part of the squad that won the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup in the 2017-2018 season.

French media reported that Paris Saint-Germain paid about 60 million euros ($71 million) for the multi-talented right-back.

Hakimi spent a loan period with Borussia Dortmund, the German club, and won the German Super Cup in 2019, before joining Inter, with whom he won the Italian league title last season.

"I feel very proud today," Hakimi told the club's website. After the great experience I gained in Spain, Germany and Italy, Paris Saint-Germain offered me the opportunity to compete in a new competition with one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can't wait to meet my new team-mates and fans and enjoy the atmosphere of the game at Parc des Princes. I have great ambitions with the club and I will do my best to live up to their expectations.

Hakimi has played 36 international matches and scored four goals for Morocco since his first appearance in 2016.

Paris Saint-Germain, led by coach Mauricio Pochettino, has already signed Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Liverpool, while media reports said the French club is close to signing Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Spain defender Sergio Ramos.
