Spanish club Real Madrid announced that its new Austrian defender, David Alaba, had contracted the Corona virus, to join French striker Karim Benzema, who also tested positive, on Friday.
And the royal club said in a brief statement : “Real Madrid announces that our player David Alaba has tested positive for Covid-19,” which is the same statement it issued on Friday with a name change when it announced that Benzema had been infected.
Alaba moved this summer to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich on a five-year contract.
The injury of Alaba, who participated with his country in the European Nations Cup, comes during the start of the pre-season matches.
The Austrian, like Benzema, has plenty of time to recover and return to the royal team, which begins his journey with his new old coach, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, in the Spanish League, starting from August 14 at Deportivo Alaves.
And last season, Real had suffered several infections in its ranks with the Corona virus, most notably to its leader, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Ramos, and defender Raphael Varane, who moved to Manchester United.
Last season, French coach Zinedine Zidane, who in turn left the club to be replaced by Ancelotti, was infected with "Covid-19", and President Florentino Perez was also injured.
