In a strange incident of its kind, a man from India's Nagor region spends 300 days a year sleeping due to a SLEEP disorder known as hypersomnia (HPA).

According to Russia Today, the man was diagnosed with the rare syndrome for the first time 23 years ago, and since then, the condition has affected his health and lifestyle.

While most people sleep approximately 6.5 to 8 hours a day in one period, 42-year-old Purkharam of Bhadwa village in Rajasthan sleeps for 25 straight days once he takes a nap.

And Purkharam, who is very popular with the villagers, runs a local business in the area, for only 5 days a month, so once he falls asleep, it can be very difficult for him to wake up.

Family members stated that at first, he slept for more than 7 to 8 days in a row, but the symptoms worsened over the years, eventually leading to him sleeping for about 20 to 25 days.

Scientists attribute the condition to a fluctuation in a brain protein known as TNF-alpha, which is generally associated with disorders associated with excessive sleepiness, such as sleep apnea and idiopathic hypersomnia.
