She is a German/American model, television presenter, fashion designer, singer, television producer, and actress. One of her most important works is the presentation of the Project Runway fashion competition program.

Heidi Klum is a German-American model, television presenter, and jury member on America's Got Talent. She originally wanted to be a dancer, but her friends influenced her and convinced her to apply for the Model 92 competition in her native Germany. She was fortunate enough to win the competition, which paved the way for her modeling success.


Aside from being a model, she has explored her talent for acting, appearing in films such as "Blow Dry" and "Ella Enchanted". She has also appeared in TV series such as "Yes, Dear", "Spin City" and "Sex and the City". As a designer, she launched "A Pea in the Pod" and "Motherhood Maternity," a maternity fashion and jewelry collection for QVC called, Wildlife. She also demonstrated her talent for singing by releasing her single, "Wonderland", which was a huge hit.


Heidi Klum's beginnings

Heidi Klum was born on 1 June 1973 in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. Her father, Gunter Klum, is a manager at a cosmetics company, and her mother, Irna, is a hairdresser.


She started her modeling career at the age of 18. After moving to New York, she started working with Victoria's Secret. After her friends persuaded her, she submitted photos of her for "Model 92", a national competition hosted by Petra magazine.


To her great surprise, she won the competition, and was presented with a contract worth $300,000.


She graduated from the Staatliche Hochschule for Bildende Kinston (Studelschule), a fine arts academy in Frankfurt.


She was the host, judge, and producer on Project Runway for 12 years.


Heidi Klum's Achievements

In 1993, she moved to New York for a modeling opportunity. The following year, she appeared on the cover page of Mirabella magazine, gaining public attention and more exposure opportunities. In subsequent years, she has worked with popular magazines such as Marie Claire, ELLE, and Vogue.


Her big break came on February 20, 1998, with a new collection of swimwear she had shown, appearing on the cover of Weekly Sports Illustrated.


In 1999, she was offered a chance with Victoria's Secret, America's largest lingerie store. She is ranked with Angels, a group of Victoria's Secret models participating in annual television shows.


In 2001, she appeared in "Blow Dry", a comedy film starring Alan Rickman and Natasha Richardson. She started a business in 2002, and released swimwear calendars in the United States and Europe.


In 2004, she managed to get roles in such films as "Ella Enchanted" and "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers". That same year, she became the executive producer and presenter of Project Runway, a reality television show for design, fashion and modeling competition.


In 2006, she began hosting "Germany's Next Top model", a German television show, in which winners win a contract with IMG Models.


In 2013, she had the opportunity to be on the judging panel for America's Got Talent alongside Melanie Brown of the Spice Girls and controversial radio presenter Howard Stern for the 2013 season, launched by Simon Cowell, and host Nick Cannon. It is a reality TV show in which singers, dancers, comedians, magicians and other talents compete.


Klum also fulfilled her dreams of becoming a designer with her own jewelry collection, and a chain of shoe brands created by Birkenstock. Additionally, she contributed to the Jordache Jeans clothing group and was the company's spokesperson.


And philanthropy has a stake, she's an ambassador for the Trick-or-Treat campaign. She also works for the International Red Cross, American Red Cross, and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. She also sings at concerts to raise money for humanitarian causes.


Heidi Klum's personal life

On September 6, 1997, she married Rick Peppino, a famous designer. They divorced in November 2002.


Then she became involved with Flavio Briatore, of the Renault Formula 1 team. They separated in December 2004, before the birth of their child, Lenny. Then, she fell in love with the singer Seal and married him on May 10, 2005. They have two sons.


On November 20, 2009, she legally changed her name to Heidi Samuel. After seven years of happy married life, the couple obtained a divorce and she remained in a relationship with him until early 2014.


Since February 2014, she has been in a relationship with Vito Schnabel, son of artist and director Julian Schnabel.
