The General Authority for Health Care announced a new success for the Authority’s Tiba Specialized Hospital in Luxor Governorate in the field of blood vessels, after successfully performing two operations to repair aortic aneurysms and blockage in the abdominal and iliac aorta using CERAB and EVAR techniques, for the second time in a row inside the hospital, for two patients under The new comprehensive insurance umbrella.
The Health Care Authority indicated that CERAB and EVAR are among the latest treatment technologies for abdominal and iliac aortic aneurysms (without surgery), through the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms by catheterization using EVAR-covered stent technology, as well as the treatment of abdominal and iliac aortic obstruction by Catheterization with CERAB-covered stent technology, according to the latest global health practices.
The authority added that the treatment of abdominal and iliac aortic aneurysms and occlusions through non-surgical interventional catheters contributes to preserving the life and safety of patients and treating them in a safer manner according to the latest internationally approved treatment guidelines and protocols, as it reduces the patient's exposure to potential side effects when Resorting to the usual surgical solution, as it poses a risk to the heart and takes a long time to complete recovery, in addition to its inability to treat all cases, especially in cases of elderly patients.
And the authority added that the first operation was for the treatment of a 70-year-old male suffering from abdominal aortic aneurysm and was treated using the EVAR-covered stent technique, while the second operation was for the treatment of a 65-year-old patient using the CERAB-resistant stent technique, indicating the stability of The health status of the two patients and the successful conduct of operations by the most skilled medical and nursing staff at Taiba Specialized Hospital in Luxor.
The authority pointed out that the cost of performing such aforementioned operations in private sector hospitals exceeds 400,000 pounds, while the patient benefiting from the services of the new comprehensive insurance system costs only the percentage of the contribution prescribed for the operation, which does not exceed 300 pounds, in addition to the development of these technologies by the health care authority hospitals. For the first time within the Luxor Governorate, the treatment provides for the hassle and hardship of patients in traveling to receive the necessary health care for treatment.
