The lung is one of the sensitive organs in the body, and when pulmonary fibrosis is affected and exposed to respiratory failure, the only option is for the patient to have a lung transplant, to get rid of the respiratory failure that the person has suffered.


In a special statement to the seventh day, the professor of cardiothoracic surgery at the Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Tarek Mohsen, indicated that lung transplantation is one of the difficult operations that require high training and special capabilities.


Tariq Mohsen confirmed that the number of cases that underwent lung transplantation around the world is divided into two types according to the donor. In this program, the right lobe and the left lobe are taken from 2 donors for the success of this surgery.


The professor of cardiothoracic surgery explained that the right lung consists of three lobes, while the left consists of two lobes. of the deceased.


Tariq indicated that taking the lung from the deceased person is much easier than from the living, because in this case the whole lungs are transferred, without the need for two people to transfer the lung.  


In the same context, a report was published on the Temple University Hospital website in the United States, indicating that the hospital performed several lung transplants in 2017, making it the first lung transplant program in the country.

There are many centers and universities that perform lung transplants. At the University of Maryland in the United States, lung transplants were done for many people, according to the “ umms ” website .


In Australia, lung transplantation  is performed in a transplant center, which  is one of the most famous centers.
