|Women and child development|
The Chinese State Council has issued a document that outlines the development of women and children over the next decade.
China will continue to achieve women's empowerment in parallel with social and economic development. According to the document, by 2030, the gender equality policy will be fully implemented. Women will enjoy equal rights to health services, education, economic interests and political rights. At the same time, the document says the government will reduce the number of abortions for non-medical purposes.
The document includes 75 key objectives and 93 supportive actions related to women, covering 8 areas including health, education and the economy.
The guidelines for children say that the system of laws, regulations and policies that protect children's rights will be improved. The gap between urban and rural areas and various regions and groups will be narrowed. Children will enjoy more equal basic public services and more inclusive well-being.
The document sets out 70 key goals and 89 actions related to children, focusing on their health, safety, education and four other aspects.
