Because it's sometimes difficult to remember your WiFi network name (also known as SSID) and password, we made it simple to see and update them from a few different locations. Here's how to do it.

TV Box X1 View Only - No Login Required

XFINITY Internet customers with an XFI Gateway:

Because no login is necessary, the X1 TV Box is the fastest and easiest way to see your WiFi network name and password if you have an xFi Gateway. This is very useful when attaching a new device, whether it's for you or a visitor.

  1. Hold down the Microphone button on your Xfinity Voice Remote and ask, "What is my WiFi password?" or "What is my WiFi information?"
  2. On the screen, the password(s) and network name(s) will appear.

Note: The WiFi assistance tile will appear, but the Simplify WiFi, Improve WiFi coverage, and PIN protect WiFi information tiles will not.

WITHOUT AN XFI GATEWAY, XFINITY INTERNET CUSTOMERS:

  1. On your remote, press the xfinity button.
  2. To get to the gear icon, press the right arrow.
  3. Select Help with the down arrow.
  4. Select the WiFi tile from the Troubleshooting area by pressing the right arrow.
  5. On the screen, the WiFi password(s) and network name(s) will appear.

Xfinity xFi App or Xfinity xFi Website

Xfinity xFi puts you in charge of your WiFi experience, allowing you to customise and control it. The Xfinity Status Center, My Account online, and the My Account mobile app will take you to xFi to view and edit WiFi details if you have an xFi Gateway. To handle it in xFi, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Xfinity account at xfinity.com/myxfi or using the Xfinity app (download on the App Store or Google Play). Make sure you have the most recent version of the Xfinity app if you already have it.
  2. Connect is the option to choose.
  3. On the Xfinity app, tap See Network, or go to the xFi website and tap See Network.
  4. Select Show Password to display your password.
  5. To make adjustments, go to the xFi website and click Edit WiFi, or go to the Xfinity app and select the pencil symbol.

Admin Tool for the Xfinity Wireless Gateway

  • Join your network with a computer, tablet, or phone. You have the option of using WiFi or an Ethernet connection to connect to your Gateway.
  • Go to the Admin Tool (http://10.0.0.1) in a web browser. This is the administration webpage for the Wireless Gateway. The following are the default parameters for launching the Admin Tool:
  • admin is the user name.
  • password is the password (case sensitive)
  • Login is the option.
  • Use your new login information if you previously changed your Admin Tool password. You'll have to factory reset your Wireless Gateway if you forget your Admin Tool password.
  • Choose Gateway, then Connection, and finally WiFi from the left navigation menu.
  • The name (SSID) of your WiFi network appears under Private WiFi Network.
  • Choose Edit. Select Edit for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to access each band's settings if you see two network names.
  • You'll see your password if you check the box next to Show Network Password.
  • Select Save Settings after you've made your changes.

Note: If you have xFi Pods or WiFi Intelligence activated on your account, you won't be able to change your WiFi name/password using the Gateway Admin/MSO tool (10.0.0.1); instead, you'll have to use the Xfinity app or the xFi website. If you're not sure if WiFi Intelligence is enabled, go to Connect > See Network > Advanced Settings in the Xfinity app and look for the option "2.4 & 5 GHz." WiFi Intelligence has been enabled if the option is not available. The xFi Advanced Gateway's WiFi Intelligence is turned on by default (XB8).

Default WiFi Settings (View Only)

A default WiFi network name and password come with your Xfinity Wireless Gateway. During installation, most Xfinity Gateways demand that the default WiFi name and password be modified. You can locate the default WiFi name and password on the side or bottom of your Gateway if your default WiFi name and password were not modified during your installation or if you have restored factory settings on your Gateway:

We strongly advise you to change your WiFi network name and password if you haven't already done so to increase the security of your home network.
