Cavities, also called tooth decay, occur when food particles accumulate between teeth and along the gum line. Bacteria in these particles interact with saliva, forming plaque that eats away at the tooth's protective enamel. Weakened enamel allows further bacterial invasion, ultimately reaching the sensitive inner pulp and root.

Insufficient brushing and flossing create the perfect breeding ground for decay-causing bacteria. Sugary and starchy foods are especially detrimental, and skipping mouth cleaning after meals or snacks significantly increases cavity risk.

1- Hydrate with Water

 Processed foods, candy, white bread, rice, and noodles are loaded with sugars and simple carbohydrates. These, together with mouth bacteria, produce cavity-causing acid that erodes enamel. Instead, opt for a healthy diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products. These foods nourish your body and strengthen your teeth's natural defenses. Limit snacking throughout the day, and always rinse your mouth after non-water beverages or snacks.

3- Invest in a Quality Toothbrush

 Replace your toothbrush every three months to maintain its effectiveness. Frayed bristles become less efficient at removing food particles. Additionally, old brushes can harbor bacteria from food debris and past illnesses.

4- Flossing is Essential

 Brushing alone can't reach all food particles, especially between teeth and in tooth surface indentations.
